Registering a Death

Requirements to register the death of a person in Lebanon

Required documents

Bring the original documents to your appointment.

1. Family civil extract

A copy of the Lebanese family civil extract (Family Ikhraj Kaid) for the father of the deceased, as head of the family.

2. Original death certificate

The original death certificate issued by the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages.

How to apply

  1. Once the required documents are available, book an appointment with the Embassy.
  2. One of the heirs (spouse, parent or child), or a representative holding a power of attorney from the heirs, attends the Embassy in person with all original documents.
  3. The Embassy certifies true copies of the original death certificate and the Lebanese family civil extract, and sends them to Lebanon to complete the registration with the official Lebanese departments.
